The Compt@ir ® lightning strike counter displays the total impacts hitting the lightning rod installation thanks to its digital display on the front panel. Each time a lightning strike is detected, it automatically increments one unit on the display. Sure enough, the rightmost number adjusts accordingly. This display operates on a battery that is replaceable approximately every 10 years at the factory.
However, battery depletion does not affect the impact measuring device in the meter. Equipped with a Contact@ir ® MD or Contact@ir ® transmitter (with Rout@ir ®), the Compt@ir ® acts like an Alert@ir XT®. Its technology makes it possible to detect positive and negative lightning strikes. Finally, we manufacture the Compt@ir ® in our workshops in France.
Its universal installation:
The Compt@ir ® impact counter is installed in series on a lightning current down conductor. About 2 meters from the ground, without the need to cut the conductor. In general, it is installed above the control joint, where its inclined screen makes reading easier. Thanks to its universal fixings, this meter adapts and works with all types of existing conductors, whether flat or round. Its innovative technology makes it possible to detect both positive and negative lightning strikes. Finally, our Compt@ir ® impact counters are not only waterproof, robust and reliable; they also comply with current standards, such as NFC 17-102:2011 and NF EN 50164-6, thus guaranteeing total compliance and maximum reliability.
Its usefulness for maintenance:
Regular observation of the display is necessary for proper monitoring of the lightning rod installation. The lightning strike counter is essential for the proper maintenance of the lightning protection system (see NFC 17-102:2011: carry out a check after each lightning strike).
