An equipotential bonding device is a protective device designed to limit transient overvoltages between adjacent metallic masses or circuits. Installed in parallel, it normally remains in an insulating state and only breaks down above a threshold voltage. During a lightning strike or overvoltage, it creates a temporary conductive connection, ensuring potential equalization and thus protecting sensitive equipment from destructive discharges.
This type of device complies with the requirements of international standards (IEC 62305, NF C 17-102, etc.) relating to protection against lightning and overvoltages.
