The empty concrete base consists of a UV-resistant plastic casing. It must be filled with concrete, sand, or another suitable material to ensure stability through its weight. The base is supplied with a plastic base. The empty concrete base is equipped with a conductor attachment and can accommodate a flat or round lightning rod conductor.
The base provides a solid support for the down conductors in lightning protection systems. These conductors, which carry the electrical current from the lightning strike from the point of capture (such as a lightning rod mast) to the grounding system, must be held securely in place.
The empty block is more economical to buy and transport due to its low weight compared to the solid concrete block .
These pads are placed approximately every 50 cm and are used to support the conductor during its horizontal movement, such as on roof terraces.
